Fireworks with Andy

Andy was married to my Mother about 30 years ago, I always he had a larger to life personality. As I young kid I thought he was the greatest thing. I called him "dad" which now as adult means I had the most respect for him even as a child. Andy and myself kinda have lost touch as life became busy and more complicated. I had joined the Army and deployed twice to Iraq, when I finally came back home Andy had made a trip to Yuba City to come see me and talk to me about my deployed since he has been through a war himself. It was very comforting to know that i had this amazing man in my corner as it is not easy to come back from war. He was the only one that understood. One story I will always remember about Andy was on the 4th of July in 1986, we were living in apartments in YUba City which him and my mom were managing at the time. Andy and myself were just sitting out at the gazebo getting ready to set off some "flower" fireworks. Andy reached in his pocket to grab his pack of cigarettes (which he often did) and lit the cigarette and took about 2 puffs and a part of the cigarette went down into his shirt pocket ( tshirt that had the pocket on the left side)where he kept the firework. All of a sudden Andys pocket was going off with fireworks. The flower fire work was spinning right there on his chest. Lucky no one was hurt but I remember him cracking up!!! He made jokes about that for years after and that's something I will never forget. Lol
