Obituary for Orpha Emma McLaughlin (Peterson)

Orpha E. McLaughlin passed away peacefully July 27, 2018. Orpha was born in Aberdeen Washington to Herman O. and Aureta M. (Partridge) Peterson on September 19, 1934. She graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1952 and Dewitt Beauty School in 1953. She acquired DeWitt Beauty School in 1965. In 1988 she retired and moved to Spencer Lake in Shelton, WA.

Orpha married her high school sweetheart, William (Bill) L. McLaughlin on August 15, 1953. They were married for 62 years before he passed on June 26, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her son, William Patrick McLaughlin (1998).

Orpha is survived by her sister Margaret Gunter, nephews Steve (Margie) Gunter, Rick Gunter and several great nieces and great nephews who all live in North Carolina; daughter–in-law Pam (Del) Pratt; grandson, William Matthew (Jamell) McLaughlin; three step-grandsons John (Natalie) Doll, Mike (Meca) Doll and Rob (Stacey) Doll; and several great-grandchildren.

At Orpha’s request there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Orpha’ s name to your preferred Alzheimer’s charity.

Arrangements were in care of Harrison Family Mortuary in Aberdeen.
