Obituary for Robert Allen Gibbons

Robert Allen Gibbons (Wallbanger) of Hoquiam passed away Monday, January 9, 2017. He was 79. Robert was born on January 1, 1938 to Victor and Elnora (Bonnell) Gibbons in Raymond, WA. The family later moved to South bend, WA where he was raised and graduated in 1956 from South Bend High School. He later went on to attend Grays Harbor College.

In 1962 Robert moved to the Grays Harbor area and spent time employed with Mayr Brothers Logging of Hoquiam, WA and The Port of Grays Harbor. He also belonged to Push Rods and Hoquiam Loggers Playday Committee and served as Chairman in 1981.

Robert was an outdoors man who loved his family. He enjoyed fishing and hunting for duck, deer, and elk. He also enjoyed going to Alaska to fish.

Robert is survived by his children Bill (Cari) Gibbons, David (Jodie) Gibbons and Deborah (Dave) Johnson all of Hoquiam, WA; brother James of Little Rock, WA, along with 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Victor and Elnora Gibbons and brother Melvin.

A visitation will take place from 12p.m. to 7p.m. on Thursday, January 19th at Harrison Family Mortuary. A graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Menlo Cemetery. A Celebration of Life and potluck will take place at 1p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Hoquiam Elks. To express condolences or leave memories visit www.harrisonfamilymortuary.com.
