Duane Gerald  Helmann Jr.
Duane Gerald Helmann Jr. of Aberdeen passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016. He was 52. Duane was born on May 29, 1964 to Duane and Dawn (Johnson) Helmann Sr. in Auburn, WA. Being a military child he spent his childhood between Auburn, New Mexico, Panama, Texas and Florida. While in Panama he graduated with the Balboa High School Class of 1983.

Duane was a social butterfly. He stayed active in Westport Pirates, Eagles, and Special Olympics. He supported cancer research, the Seahawks, and our Veterans. Duane enjoyed vacations and road trips with his family. Including a cross country trek from Florida to Washington in a U-Haul truck followed by the rest of the family and our pets.

After returning to Washington Duane met Mary (Duncan) Helmann and married her on June 22, 1996. Together they celebrated 20 years of marriage.

He is survived his wife Mary Helmann; mother Dawn Mize; siblings Robyn (Brian) Reams, Debbie (Bryan) St. John, Darlene Mize, Chris (Shelly) Mize, and Chuck Mize; nieces Amber (Brian) Carlson and Jacquie Lloyd; and great nephew Alexander Carlson. Along with many more family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his fathers Duane G. Helmann Sr. and Hubert A. Mize Jr.

A Celebration of Duane’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Hoquiam Senior Center. Memorials may be made to PAWS of Grays Harbor. Go Seahawks!
