Florence Althea Ficele, a longtime resident of Aberdeen, died on Wednesday March 30, 2016 at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam, WA. She was 83. Florence was born on May 23, 1932 in Hillsview, SD to John and Juliana (Glatt) Malsom and was raised in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She moved to this area in 1949.
On August 30, 1952 she married Philip Ficele at St Mary Catholic Church in Aberdeen, WA. He passed away in 1972.
Florence worked at the Golden Dragon in Hoquiam from 1986-2002. She was also a member of St Mary Catholic Church in Aberdeen. Florence enjoyed crocheting afghans, especially for babies.
Florence is survived by her children: son George (Jackie) Ficele of Aberdeen, WA. Two daughters: Cheryl Ficele of South Cle Elum, WA, and Eva (Lai) To of Aberdeen, WA. Two grandsons Philip and Nathan To of Aberdeen, WA. She is also survived by her sister Eva Fong of Bakersfield, CA, sister–in-law Eleanor and brother-in-law Joseph Ficele of Yakima, WA. Other family members include a niece; Edna Atkinson, and other nieces and nephews, Debbie Sundling, a special friend who often visited her and other friends who cared for her at Pacific Care.
She was preceded in death by her husband Philip, brothers Leo, Ben, and Paul Malsom, and two sisters; Margaret Stevens and Delores Schmitt.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to PAWS of Grays Harbor: 800 W 1st St, Aberdeen, WA 98520, or St Mary Catholic Church, or a charity of your own choice.
Visitation will start at 5pm on April 6, 2016, followed by the Recitation of the Rosary at 7pm at Harrison Family Mortuary: 311 W Market St, Aberdeen, WA 98520. Funeral mass will be 1 pm on April 7, 2016 at St Mary Catholic Church: 306 E 3rd St, Aberdeen, WA. A graveside service will follow at Fern Hill Cemetery.
