Mickie Ana Newland passed away early on Tuesday, July 30 at home in Westport, WA. She had been suffering from heart and liver problems. She was born in Aberdeen, WA on July 26th, 1960 to Glenna (Brown) Newland and John Newland. She spent many years working in the commercial fishing industry up and down the West Coast and off of Hawaii. She loved fishing and the ocean. She had lived in Hawaii for many years. In recent years, she had worked at the Westport Shipyard and had been helping to care for her grandmother and mother. She was preceded in death by her sister Tammie Newland, her father John Newland and Grandfather Earl Brown. She is survived by her mother, Glenna Gill, grandmother Elizabeth Brown, and brothers John Newland and Shawn Tobin. Although Mickie had many difficulties and struggles during her life, she had a loving and caring heart. Her ashes will be scattered on the ocean as she requested.
