She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Dee Dee Garman her son in laws Larry Garman and Mike Wincewicz. Phyllis will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Jamie (Nate) Brueher, Brian Vasquez, Wes Davis, Lacey Davis, Josh Garman, Casey (Cristina) Wincewicz, Sean (Kira) Wincewicz. Great grandkids, Cameron, Kelcey, Brenan, Devin, Ava, Jayde, Kaitlynn, Korbin, Kaylee, Belle, Cavan, Riley and Baylee. Preceded in death by her husband John Cornwell, daughter Theresa Wincewicz, brothers Delbert Finch, Lloyd Finch, twin brother Ellis Finch, and sister Edna Birindelli,
Phyllis lived a fulfilling life as a dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. She treasured the people in her life and embraced every moment with them. She would go all out for the holidays especially Halloween, Christmas and Easter. She reveled in family gatherings, traveling with her husband, children and grandchildren, cooking, baking, mowing her lawn, tending to her flower beds, entertaining, dancing the night away at get-togethers and keeping an immaculate house and car.
Phyllis was an Elvis Presley fan, enjoyed music and singing to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite song was “I love you a bushel and a peck and hug around your neck”. Her favorite phrase when pushing the little ones on the swing was 1 for the money 2 for the show 3 to get ready and go, go, go! She always took time to play a game of marbles, Yahtzee, color in coloring books, gaze at the moon, go for walks where she would throw fall leaves in the air and stomp in mud puddles with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Not only did Phyllis fill the role of wife, mother and home-maker she also worked outside the home. As a teen she worked as a maid for a wealthy family in Hoquiam. She worked as a waitress at the Canton in Aberdeen and Bee Hive in Montesano. She was a cashier at C & T Market and worked at Grays Harbor Medical Bureau where she retired after 33 plus years. Both Phyllis and her late husband Johnny worked tirelessly to be able to provide opportunities and memories for their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Although Alzheimer slowly took so much of our precious Phyllis, she continued to show love and kindness to everyone she was around and had an unlimited amount of energy in which the only time she slowed down was when she was sleeping. Right up to her leaving this world all of those around her continued to be blessed with her beautiful smile, sweet laugh, happy disposition, fun-loving spirit, sense of humor and encouraging words.
We are so grateful for the time we had with her, she will be dearly missed and we will forever feel her presence in our hearts.
At her request there will be no formal services. A celebration is being planned to honor Phyllis for friends and family in the summer of 2022. . To share memories or leave condolences for the family please visit www.harrisonfamilymortuary.com
