Obituary for Dolores Jean Mooney

Loving grandmother, mother, sister, and friend, Dolores Jean Mooney (Smith) passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, WA she was 92 years old. Dolores was born on May 18, 1928 to Rolland and Hazel Smith in Montesano, WA.
When growing up Dolores and her parents stayed in Montesano where she graduated from Montesano High School in 1946. After high school she went to work at the Grays Harbor County Courthouse as staff support the Auditor for 30 years until she retired.
Earlier in life Dolores was married to Willard Lynn and together they had a child Kurtis Lynn. After 10 years of marriage Dolores and Willard had both gone their separate ways. She later got married to Glen Mooney August 21, 1964 and they had been married for 31 years until he preceded her in death in 1995.
Throughout her years Dolores had been a member of LOE (Ladies of the Elks), VFW, and VMW. Dolores was an outgoing and kind person. She was always out talking to people and making new friends. Dolores never met a single person she did not like. She also enjoyed going shopping, while out she would always manage to make a friend or two. Dolores could always be found cheering on the Mariners and the Seahawks during their games, those teams brought real joy to her life. Another one of her passions was collecting Mickey Mouse paraphernalia, even though she had only been to Disneyland once.
Any memorials can be in Dolores’ honor to Ladies of the Elks, Montesano Presbyterian Church, and/or the Montesano Fire Dept.
Dolores is survived by her child Kurtis (Sandy) Lynn; brothers Burt Smith and Rick (Kerri) Smith; sisters Darlene (Glen) Brittain and Ruth (Les) Foss, and her two grandchildren Tyson and Nathan Lynn. She is preceded in death by her parents Rolland and Hazel Smith; husband Glen Mooney; brothers C.C. Smith (Bud) (Stella), Jim Smith (Ilene), Rolland Robert (Bob) (Pam); sisters Eilleen Matney (Lindy) and Pam Valentine ( Jim).
Dolores will be laid to rest Friday, October 9, 2020 at Wynooche Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date due to Covid restrictions.
