Obituary for John William Duff

John William Duff, born February 28, 1960, died July 18, 2020
John was born in Portland Oregon and lived there until he was 12, when the family moved to Billings, MT. After graduating from Billings Senior High in 1978, he worked in management at various restaurants, which moved him back to the Portland, OR area. Then he chose a career at Continental Airlines. He lived in multiple cities before settling down in the Denver, CO area, where he resided most of the rest of his life and met his wife of 20 years, Jenifer Duff.
While he worked at Continental, he finished his BS in Business Administration and Marketing at Colorado University in Boulder and then went back into restaurant management. He finally chose to pursue his passion, Real Estate, and was very successful until a bad snowmobile accident left him seriously injured. He returned to part time restaurant work, until he recently moved to Moclips, Washington, to retire.
John loved all dogs (and some cats too) and had many pets over his lifetime. He sadly leaves behind his best friend, Ralph, a Saint Bernard who brought much joy into his life and was with him when he passed. He played the violin, was very fond of the color neon green, and enjoyed singing Karaoke with friends and family. He traveled as often as he could and had been to Europe and Mexico many times. He also had a great sense of humor and was somewhat of a logophile, but that meant an occasional good laugh after looking up the correct meaning of a particular word. John loved a good argument and had become more interested in politics over the years. He enjoyed a friendly political debate.
John is survived by Jenifer Duff, their son, Michael Duff (Frederick, CO), and his stepson from his wife Jenifer, Brett Hunter (White Lake, MI). Brett and his wife, Kayla Hunter, had Johns’ first grandchild, Max Hunter. His Sister, Bonnie Garrett, lives in Marietta, GA with her husband Mike Garrett and daughter Jamie. He also has a cousin, Dr. Michelle Nadeau (Husband James Nadeau) who lives in Dallas, TX and two cousins, Mark (Wife Debbi and son Dominic) and Mitch Lamey (wife Margit and daughter Maren), who live in Portland.
John’s grandparents, John and Bernice Lamey, mother, Sarah (Sally) Noe, father, William (Bill) Duff, his Uncle John (Jack) Lamey, and brother, Michael Noe, all preceded him in death.
