Evelyn Irene Watkins of Hoquiam passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital. She was 100. Evelyn was born June 1, 1918 in Aberdeen, Washington to John and Bertha (Coffman) Mann.
Evelyn was raised in Aberdeen and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1936. She then attended Business College in Tacoma, Wash.
On October 10, 1940 Evelyn married C. Walker Watkins in Hoquiam.
Evelyn had worked for Kress, Woolworths and Richardson Insurance. She enjoyed singing with Sweet Adeline’s in her younger years and also singing in the Methodist Church choir. Evelyn also enjoyed playing in pinochle groups, reading and she loved RVing with her husband and the Hoquiam Elks RV Club.
Evelyn is survived by her son Randy Watkins of Hoquiam; daughter Jann (Nick) Struthers of Aberdeen; 2 grandchildren Darren and Shannon Struthers and great-granddaughter Lyric.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her brother Clifford Mann and sister Dolores McFeron.
A Memorial service will be held take place on 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 23rd at the Central Park United Methodist Church.
Evelyn was laid to rest at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen.
