Obituary for William John "Bill" Lash

Print
Bill left us to follow a new path on Sept. 25, 2018. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. He was 66. Bill was born in Aberdeen, Wash., on Nov. 17, 1951, to Mike and Lulu (McBride) Lash.

He attended schools in Hoquiam and Lake Quinault, where he graduated in 1971. He played running back for the Quinault Elks.

He married Diana (Potter) Dayton on June 17, 1984, in Reno, Nev. She survives him at their home in Aberdeen.

Bill went to work at the age of 17 in the logging industry and the shake and shingle mills around Grays Harbor. In 2000 he went to work for Tubafor Mills Inc. as a shovel operator. Tubafor later became Alta Forest Products, where he remained employed until he became ill.

Bill enjoyed clam digging (where he met Diana), fishing, mushroom picking and going to casinos.

He is survived by his loving wife Diana of Aberdeen; a daughter Evon Lash of Oregon; a son Darrin (Jenny) Potter of Wishkah; a grandson D.J. Potter of Aberdeen; a sister Carol (Bill) Elder of Sisters, Ore.; sisters-in-law Jane (Mike) Lash of Hoquiam, Toddy Bales of Aberdeen, Denise Sweazy of Issaquah and Debbie Adams of Hoquiam; brother-in-law Richard (Suzanne) Wright of Hoquiam; nine nieces and five nephews and extended family.

Bill was proceeded in death by his brother Mike Lash on May 26, 2018, and his son Chris Dayton on Jan. 9, 2002.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Hoquiam Elks, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his smart ass (Lashitude) attitude. He left with love in his heart for all of us.
