Obituary for Keith Wendell McMaster

Keith Wendell  McMaster
Keith Wendell McMaster, 84, of Elma passed away Monday, July 30, 2018 at Capital Medical Center in Olympia. Keith was born November 26, 1933 in Longview, Washington to Hugh and Bertha (Gibson) McMaster. He was raised in Porter and spent most of his life living in the east county.
Keith graduated from San Diego High School, the University of Washington with a B.A. and University of Oregon with his Master’s and Doctorate degrees. He worked as an assistant professor for 11 years at Pacific Lutheran University and also at Seattle University.
Keith proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam era.
On June 24, 1961 Keith married the love of his life Dorothy August in Elma, Washington. They recently celebrated 57 years of marriage. Dorothy survives him at the family home.
He enjoyed fishing and loved watching his son play sports and other activities. He was involved in ASB at his son’s high school. Keith was an avid reader and kept up on current events.
In addition to his loving wife Dorothy, he is also survived by his son Matt H. McMaster; two granddaughters Katherine McMaster and Alyssa Haikkila and one great granddaughter Anna Haikkila; and two brothers Glenn McMaster of Olympia and Collin McMaster of Porter, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gilbert McMaster and sister Virginia McMaster Boyer.
A memorial service is planned for 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 3rd at the United Methodist Church in Elma.
Keith will be laid to rest at Masonic Cemetery in Elma.
