Obituary for Concepcion "Connie" Ybarra (Ybarra)

Aberdeen resident Concepcion “Connie” Ybarra passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen. She was 94.
Connie was born April 1, 1914 in Jerome, Arizona to Jesus and Matilde (Carrillo) Ybarra. She attended school in Clarksdale, AZ and lived in Prescott, AZ before moving to Aberdeen in 2000. Connie had traveled all over Europe, the Caribbean, and the Hawaiian Islands.
Connie had worked at Madelyn Fio Rito, an exclusive Palm Springs dress shop, and in the front office of the Palm Springs Spa and Hotel, where she met and helped many celebrities. She served two terms as president of the Business and Professional Women’s Association of Palm Springs and was a singer with the Sweet Adelines.
Connie was a member of the Legion of Mary and St. Mary Catholic Church, and was involved in various Church ministries throughout the years. She was a strong supporter of the Right to Life movement and volunteered helping handicapped children.
When she moved to Aberdeen she volunteered at Grays Harbor Community Hospital East Campus Long Term Care. Connie loved to talk to everyone and never met a stranger. She loved to visit the sick where she would talk, console, and pray for them.
Connie is survived by her niece Debbie Sundling; grand niece Nancy Hall and husband Greg; grand niece Stephanie Weakley and husband Tedd; grand nephew Brian Sundling and wife Sandy; great grand nieces Erin Weakley and Ahna Sundling; grand nephew Spencer Sundling; and numerous nephews and nieces in Arizona and California. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister.
A Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. with a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Aberdeen, followed by a reception in the parish hall. A committal service will be at 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Elma.
