Obituary for Sue Van Hemert (Lacey (Pierce))

Sue  Van Hemert (Lacey   (Pierce))
Montesano resident Sue Van Hemert passed away Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital.
Sue was born January 4, 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri to Wayne and Edna (Combs) Lacey.
Sue was raised in Raymond and graduated from Raymond High School in 1969. She had also lived in Hollywood, Calif.
On June 11, 1988 Sue married Mark Van Hemert in Aberdeen, WA. He survives her at the family home.
Sue had worked as a checker at Thriftway in Montesano from 1983-1987, she was the office manager for Hoquiam Chiropractic in Hoquiam from 1988-1998, and was president and CEO of Ortho Rehab, Inc.
Sue was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Montesano, the Aberdeen Elks and the National Defender’s Association.
Sue loved to travel, especially with her husband Mark to St. Thomas and to their vacation home in Mexico. She enjoyed exercising and staying fit, she loved the great outdoors and wildlife. She even had a pet lynx, Chayla.
In addition to her loving husband Mark, Sue is survived by her son, Michael (Dana Larson) Anderson and her daughter, Misty Daniel Anderson both of Olympia; granddaughter Ayla Sarnat; two step-sons, Reuben James and Michael Van Hemert both of Minneapolis, MN; three brothers, William Combs of NV; Bruce Cooper of IL; Dave Pierce of Olympia; three sisters, Debbie MacMillan of Raymond; Lisa Ketner of Alaska and Sally Kennedy of WY; numerous nieces and nephews, Chris Olsen, Case Boone, Elizabeth Myers, Kacie Combs, Tony & Alicia Ketner, Matt & Adam Cooper.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at St. John’s Catholic Church, 414 East Broadway in Montesano.
