Obituary for Hubert Lincoln Johnson

Hubert (Herb) Lincoln Johnson of Westport passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital. He was 81. Arrangements are by Harrison Family Mortuary. Herb was born in East Gary Indiana on September 26, 1937, to Lincoln Herbert Johnson and Eduth Louise Johnson. Preceding Herb in death Father Lincoln, Mother Louise Johnson of Centralia and sister Carolyn Marcotte, also of Centralia. Surviving brothers James (Sally) Johnson, Centralia, Richard (Karen) Johnson, Vancouver and Charles (Judy) Johnson, Olympia. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Herb is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Mickie and granddaughter Shae-Lynn of the family home in Westport. Joel S Johnson son Centralia, Jill Rutledge daughter, Erica Dore granddaughter, Steven Rutledge grandson all of Seattle.
Herb graduated from Onalaska and worked various jobs. He was well known in Lewis County for refereeing high school sports. He started his career with United Parcel Service in Chehalis and retired the first time from UPS as manager of Seattle Pre-Load after 26 years of service. He then moved to Grayland-Westport area where he embarked on a second career retiring again after 18 years from Ocosta School District as Transportation Supervisor. He enjoyed the challenge of working on the school buses and working with his drivers. He enjoyed remodeling houses and working with his hands. Herb and Carol enjoyed RVing across the United States and especially enjoyed Mt. Hood Oregon.
A celebration of Herb’s life is planned from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 in Westport, WA at the Tackle Box meeting room.
