Obituary for Shirley Ann Stuck (Bommerscheim)

Print

Hoquiam resident Shirley Ann Stuck fell asleep in death on Monday, Oct. 29, 2018, surrounded by her beloved family. Shirley was 67 years of age. She was born March 13, 1951, to Leonard and Elizabeth Bommerscheim (Christie). On March 16, 1968, she married her teenage sweetheart and jokester for life, Charles Stuck. Together they laughed and cried through the joys and sorrows family life can bring. He survives her at the family home.

Her love for her family was immense. The family grew to include a daughter, Kayleen (Kenneth) Mello of Wheatland Calif., son, Charles “Nathan” (Joanne) Stuck of Roseville, Calif., son, Philip (Dawn) Stuck of Aberdeen, Wash. and Casey (Janice) Stuck of Sandy, Utah. She is also remembered lovingly by former daughter-in-law, Kalena Rogers of Bonney Lake, Wash. She cherished her 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She is survived by sister Dorothy Madison of Hoquiam, sister Ruth Carrigan of Aberdeen, brother Leonard Joseph (Lorretta) Bommerscheim Jr. of Aberdeen and sister Becki (Ivan) Leigh of Forest Grove, Ore. She will always hold a special place in the hearts of her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Bryson Stuck, her parents Leonard and Elizabeth Bommerscheim, and an infant sister, Delores Ann Bommerscheim.

From an early age, Shirley’s parents instilled a love of the outdoors and she shared that with others. The family especially cherishes their memories of Shirley spending time with them camping. She enjoyed Lake Chelan but especially loved Wynoochee Dam, where many nights were spent reveling at the stars, enjoying Jehovah’s creation. She loved to swim and no matter how cold the water, you could always find Shirley in the lake. She is remembered well for her contagious laugh and enthusiastic sense of humor. You could consider it a compliment to be on the receiving end of a joke or prank. She loved dancing, and as a teenager enjoyed attending dances with her brother Joe. Later in life she owned a small cafe in Aberdeen, Chocolate Elegance, where she combined her love of coffee and chocolate becoming known for her signature chocolate cake.

An important milestone for her was April 25, 1970, when she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She dedicated her life to sharing valuable Bible truths with others. Shirley established a good name through her faith, becoming a faithful example to others and proving the words of Ecclesiastes 7:1 “A good name is better than good oil, and the day of death is better than the day of birth.”

She cherished the Bible’s teachings and promises, especially the hope of a resurrection as shown at John 11:25 “The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.” Shirley may have lost her battle with cancer, but she gained everlasting life in the eyes of Jehovah and of those who love her.

A Memorial service is planned for 4 p.m. on Nov. 3, 2018, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1000 K Street, Hoquiam, Wash. with a gathering to follow at the Aberdeen Log Pavilion.
