Obituary for Leonard Duaine Carney

Leonard Duaine Carney of Hoquiam passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital. He was 88. Leonard was born on March 27, 1929 to Leonard W. and Dorothy (Huffman) Carney in Hoquiam, WA. He attended Weatherwax High School but obtained his GED when he joined the United States Army. Leonard served in the Korean War as a cook.

Prior, and after, the war Leonard worked for Harbor Plywood. Later known as Evans products of Aberdeen and Hoquiam. During his time at Evans Products he met Judith Gale Carney. They wed on November 12, 1983 at the United Christian Church in Aberdeen.

Leonard was a member of the Aberdeen V.F.W and Grays Harbor Coin Club. He also loved learning about Grays Harbor. He collected memorabilia and trade tokens from different eras.

Leonard is survived by his wife Judith Carney of Hoquiam; children Colleen Carney of Ferndale, James Carney of Bellingham, Michael Carney of Olympia, Kevin Carney of Olympia, Sam Miller of Marysville, and Shawn Miller of Lake Stevens; brother Clarence Carney of Steilacoom; and numerous grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Alan Carney, and sister Judy (Carney) Brand.
