Warwick (Wal) George Evans passed away early Sunday morning, February 4, 2018 after a brief illness. Wal was born February 28, 1922 in Birmingham England, the son of George and Florence Evans.

An avid sportsman, Wal cycled and played soccer and golf. Wal received a commission as a Flying Officer in the Royal Air Force. They flew in American Liberator airplanes from Canada to India delivering supplies to the forces fighting the Japanese in the jungles of Burma and French Indochina. They lived in Peterborough and later in Bridgenorth, Ontario where they began their family. They have three daughters: Diane, Barbara and Jane.

In 1960, the Evans family immigrated to the United States and lived in Beloit, Wisconsin before moving to Aberdeen, Washington in 1964. Wal is survived by his wife Elsie, three daughters, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Wal worked for Lamb Grays Harbor for many years and travelled internationally working on paper machine installations. He later spent many years working as a design engineer on various projects including working on the Columbia space shuttle in southern California. Always an avid golfer, Wal played well into his 90’s, mostly at Highlands golf course in Cosmopolis. He loved gardening, reading travel books and sailing. He also volunteered for many community organizations over the years.
