Obituary for Patsy Jean Sutherby

Patsy Jean  Sutherby
Longtime Montesano resident Patsy Jean Sutherby passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Providence St Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA. She was 87. Patsy was born on April 24, 1930 to Roy and Iola (Davison) Avey in Beatrice, Nebraska.

On June 6, 1948 Patsy married James Albert Sutherby. Together they celebrated 69 years of marriage and the birth of 5 children. The family settled in the Grays Harbor area in 1961.

Patsy loved being a mother. She was blessed to stay home with her children throughout their younger years. She even became a Den Mother for one of the Boy Scout Troops. Patsy also stayed active in many organizations including: Birthday Club, Evergreen Auto Racing Association, ERA Women’s Auxiliary, The United Methodist Church and the City of McCleary.

When Patsy wasn’t with family or volunteering she enjoyed spending her time attending garage sales where she would find various collectables.

Patsy is survived by her husband James Albert Sutherby of McCleary; sons Randy Sutherby of Montesano, Jack (Sheridan) Sutherby of Elma, Brian (Lisa) Sutherby of Elma, and Scott (Tami) Sutherby of Kalama; daughter Sandra Wixson of Aberdeen, brother Leroy (Diane) Avey of McCleary; 17 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Iola Avey.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Montesano United Methodist Church, 401 E Spruce Ave. A 2:00 p.m. graveside service will follow at Wynooche Cemetery.
