Obituary for Melvan Lynn Glerup

Melvan Lynn Glerup passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at his Elma home. He was 58 years young. Melvan was born on July 23, 1959 to George and Nola “Jean” Glerup in Burns, OR.

Melvan attended Weatherwax High School but then decided he was “too cool for school” and joined the United States Army where he obtained his G.E.D. The army took him to new places including Kentucky, Germany, and Missouri. He was honorably discharged in 1980 out of Fort Lewis, WA. After the military Melvan worked in construction.

In 1988 Melvan married Lugene (Schnase) Glerup. Together they had two daughters and many fun years before her passing in 2008.

Melvan was an outdoors man. He could be found fishing, hunting, clamming or just relaxing while enjoying what nature had to bring.

Melvan is survived by his daughters Caitlynn Glerup of Montesano, WA and Mackenzie Glerup of Aberdeen, WA; mother Jean (Carl) Hagen of Elma, WA; siblings Randy Glerup, Sarah Glerup-Murray and Kellie Meers all of Aberdeen, WA; uncle Roger (Pam) Glerup of Burns, OR; grandmother Vada Wenick of Ontario, OR; aunt Ginger (Gary) Jackson of Nyssa, OR; great-aunt Bonnie Albers of Halfway, MS; and special friend Laurie Rehaume. He was preceded in death by his father in 1984.

A memorial service take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Grays Harbor Foursquare Church, 4800 Central Park Dr., Aberdeen. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the Aberdeen V.F.W
