Obituary for Richard Ralph "Dick" Johansen

Former Montesano resident Richard Ralph Johansen of Lakewood, Washington passed away at St. Clare Hospital in Tacoma on Friday, September 1, 2017. He was 68. Richard was born June 9, 1949 in Aberdeen, Washington to Ralph and Barbara (Hubbard) Johansen. He was raised in Montesano and graduated from Montesano High School and had attended Grays Harbor College.
Dick had worked as a security guard at White Star Mill in McCleary and also Rayonier before his illness.
Dick attended the Methodist Church in Montesano while growing up.
He loved guns and hunting; he belonged to a gun club and did a lot of target practice. While growing up he would go deer hunting with his father Ralph. Dick enjoyed country music and liked to dance; he was very good at it.
Dick is survived by his mother Barbara Johansen, younger brother Bobby Johansen and a sister Marie Hampton; numerous nieces and nephews and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Ralph Johansen.
Visitation will take place from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 7th in the chapel at Harrison Family Mortuary in Aberdeen. A graveside service is planned from 11:00 a.m., Friday at Wynooche Cemetery in Montesano.
