Obituary for Elza Leslie Morgan

Elza Leslie  Morgan
Elza Leslie Morgan, who everyone knew as Les, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at his Montesano home. He was 92. Les was born on July 8, 1924 to Jesse and Ivy (Woodruff) Morgan in North River, WA. In 1943 he graduated from North River High School and joined the United States Navy.

On March 28, 1946 he was discharged and returned to Grays Harbor and worked a variety of jobs before going to work at Garrett’s Cameras. There he found a passion for photography and opened his own studio, Leslie’s Studio, in Aberdeen. After 30 years of portrait photography he retired and spent his time woodworking or out in the garden. He also loved spending time with his wife Patricia (Sangder) Morgan. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 24th.

Les was active in the Saron Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway, and Professional Photographers of Washington.

Les is survived by his wife Patricia Morgan, son Mark Matthew Morgan (Amy), daughter Deborah Allison Stricklett (Terry), and grandchildren Zachary Stricklett, Dillon Stricklett, William Morgan, and Luke Morgan.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Ivy Morgan; and siblings Mary, Joseph, and Danny.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday April 1, 2017 at Saron Lutheran Church, 708 8th Street, Hoquiam. A reception will follow. Memorials may be made to the Montesano Fire Department or Saron Lutheran Church.
