Obituary for Robert Loren Flannigan

Robert (Bob) Loren Flannigan, a longtime resident of Cosmopolis, WA, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016 at his residence. He was 81. Bob was born on April 21, 1934 to Loren and Leola (Ross) Flannigan in Hoquiam, WA. He was raised in the area and attended school in Hoquiam. He joined the United States Army, and married Joan Dokter on October 5, 1955 in Munich, Germany.
Upon returning to the harbor, Bob was employed by Weyerhaeuser as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in 1993
Bob enjoyed fishing, bowling, building bird houses and generally puttering around his garage. He also enjoyed coaching for his children and grandchildren’s teams. Bob and Joan were avid followers and supporters of their children’s, grandchildren’s, niece’s and nephew’s sporting and music events. They were fixtures at Pioneer Park long after their family outgrew the fields.
Bob is survived by his children: son Mike (Denise) Flannigan, and daughters Loanne Travess and Laurie (Ernie) Yeoman, all of Aberdeen, WA, along with 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Dennis Caruthers of Hoquiam, WA and sister Patricia Wilson, also of Hoquiam.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Joan and a sister, Sharon Goodwin.
There will be a celebration of life in Bob’s honor on Saturday April 9th, 2016 at 2:30pm at the Cosmopolis Lions Club: 601 2nd St, Cosmopolis, WA 98537. A private, graveside inurnment by the family will also take place Saturday.
