Obituary for Sherry Ann Drake (Schnoor)

Sherry Ann  Drake (Schnoor)
Sherry A. Drake passed away Feb. 26, 2015, at home with her family by her side, after an 18 month battle with brain cancer. Sherry was born on April 3, 1945, in Iowa. She moved to Hoquiam in 1953 and graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1963. On Dec. 13, 1974, she married Rod Drake in Hoquiam, Wash.
When her children were young, Sherry worked as an educational assistant for the Hoquiam School District. She later became a teller and then a loan officer at Timberland Bank, retiring in 2007. Sherry belonged to the Harbor Homemakers, Peksu, Grizzly Alumni Association, Bobcat Grandmas and was a member of Saron Lutheran Church. Sherry lived a life completely dedicated to her family and doing for others. She was fiercely proud of her children and grandchildren and set a loving and gracious example for all who knew and loved her. Sherry enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, quilting, traveling, home improvement projects, reading and antiquing, but most of all she enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports and participate in other activities. She also belonged to a ladies birthday group and a weekly ladies lunch group for many years.
Sherry is survived by her husband Rod of Aberdeen; her son, Tyler Drake (Lindsey) of Montesano; daughters Carrie Marlow (Brad) of Aberdeen and Jennifer Rhoden (Brad) of Montesano; a stepson, Randy Drake (Dalie) of Gig Harbor; a stepdaughter, Debbie Drake of Port Angeles; a brother, Steven Schnoor of Aberdeen; a sister, Nancy Eklund (John) of Chehalis; nine grandchildren, Jesse Marlow, Aaron Marlow, LeeAnn Rhoden, Sawyer Rhoden, Lawson Drake, Jessica Drake, Chris Drake, Casey Drake and Alex Atwell, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doc and Norma Schnoor, and her uncle Lauren Schnoor.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the Rotary Log Pavilion in Aberdeen. A short service will begin at 1 p.m., followed by a reception in the same location until 4 p.m.
