Obituary for Leonard Ted Travess

Leonard Ted Travess of Aberdeen passed away on Wednesday July 16, 2014 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital after a courageous fight with leukemia with his wife by his side. He was 55.
Leonard was born and raised in Aberdeen and loved deeply by his family. He graduated from Aberdeen High School and married the love of his life Loanne C. Flannigan on February 15, l985 in Reno, Nevada. Together they raised three sons.
Leonard was employed as a log scaler from 1985 until 2009 for Weyerhaeuser until they shut down. He also worked for GH Log Scaling Bureau and Pacific Lumber.
Leonard’s life was always about his family. He loved summer camping trips with his sisters and their families and was always available to them. He was generous with his heart and time for all those he cared for. He was steadfastly supportive of his wife and his sons. As a father Leonard was always present in his boy’s lives and proud of their accomplishments as well as the fine men they’ve become. As a husband, Leonard was the grounding source of his wife’s life as she was his. Together they truly were each other’s halves for 30 years.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife Loanne, his three sons; Kyle Travess of Seattle, Ted Travess of Lacey and JR Salmon of Bothell, three granddaughters; Isabella, Brooklyn and Aubrey, three sisters; Vicki Deremer of Olympia, Kittie Carter of Hoquiam and Brenda Catlin, Hoquiam, one brother; Gary Travess of South Dakota and many nieces who he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Delores (Carpenter) Travess, brother Frank and sister Judy Travess.
Memorials may be made in his honor to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
A private family graveside service will be Wednesday July 23, 2014 at Fern Hill Cemetery.
