Mary Gean Kaplan of Aberdeen passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia with her family by her side. She was 69. Mary was born September 2, 1944 in Newberg, Oregon to William and Genevieve (Bossuet) Corbus.
Mary was raised in Aberdeen and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1962.
On July 6, 1962 she married the love of her life Joseph Kaplan in Aberdeen. He survives her at the family home.
Mary drove school bus for the Aberdeen School District from 1984 until she retired in 2006. She was an active member of the Lugnutz Car Club and enjoyed traveling to classic car shows with her husband Joe. Mary loved spending time with her family and was very active in supporting her grandchildren’s activities. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, shopping and going to the casino with friends.
In addition to her loving husband Joe she is also survived by her two daughters, Jeanette (Don) Johnson of Wishkah Valley and Kristi (Mark) Lajcin of Aberdeen; two sisters, Jane Franklin and Joan Beaty both of Aberdeen; six grandchildren, Joe, Mitchell, Jacie, Jess, Jake and Kelsie and great-granddaughter Ashlynn.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents William and Genevieve Corbus and a brother George Corbus.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 16th at the Cosmopolis Lions Club located at 601 Second Street in Cosmopolis.
